I WIsh I Had a Time Machine Blank + All Occasion Greeting Card With Handlined Envelope in Washi Blue and White Dotted Paper
$6.95
This card has a story. A rich history. And it starts with a guy...doesn't it always? Well, always start with a significant other...
In the early days of a relationship that became one of the most defining relationships of my life, the guy would often message me and say, "I'm thinking about you right now. I really wish I had a time machine so I could teleport and be with you right now." The romantic in me always loved those messages.
As I've gotten older, this message took on different meanings...what could I do if I had a time machine to say the things I needed to say at the time I needed to say them. (Come on, I can't be the only person who has the best conversation with myself AFTER the real conversation took place two weeks before!)
And then I realized, "duh, Sara, cards are time machines. These antiquated pieces you spend so much time designing for people who don't even have script handwriting anymore, are time machines!" These are the pieces that can express so much for the future and the past. But let us emphasize future here."
If I had a time machine, I'd step into one to see all those I love and hug them more often than I do. This card is your way of hugging. Of saying, even with time and space, I love you and all that you are. And occasionally saying, I fucked up and I wish I could go back in time and have a redo, but since I can't, allow me to say this, now.
While this may start by being a wish, your putting pen to paper, emotions in writing, is an action. An action for the future. For the future you, and the future person receiving the card.
Lastly, when I asked friends to share with me "when you think of the future, what color do you see?", I got many interesting responses, but the color that kept coming up was blue, a deep and rich, blue. Which dictated the paper choice for the envelope liner - a deep blue and white dotted paper made by hand in Japan. It has a thickness unlike most other paper used in my card envelope liners. (And results in the slightly more expensive price!)
The card is 80lb white cover stock with the words in a matching royal blue ink. The font used is courtesy of a German Designer who turned the handwriting of Einstein and Freud into fonts. Nothing seemed more futuristic than the handwriting of one of the great philosophers.
Cards are sold singly and folded are 3 1/2" x 2 1/2". Corresponding envelope with Japanese (Washi) handmade paper liner is included. Envelope liners are all cut by hand by me.
Feel free to message me with any questions!
